The CWWK S3 is a dual 10GbE SFP+ firewall mini PC based on an Intel N-Series platform. It combines four onboard Intel i226-V 2.5GbE RJ45 ports with two Intel 82599ES 10GbE SFP+ interfaces through the PCIe expansion architecture.

Intel N100, N150, N200 and N305 Processor Options

The S3 supports Intel N100, N150, N200 and Core i3-N305 processor configurations for firewall routing, 10GbE networking, VPN services, VLAN segmentation, virtualization and multi-service network environments.

N100 4 cores / 4 threads for firewall, routing, VLAN, VPN and general network services.
N150 4 cores / 4 threads for efficient gateway, firewall and network workloads.
N200 4 cores / 4 threads with additional performance headroom for multi-service networking.
N305 8 cores / 8 threads for Proxmox, virtual firewalls, containers and heavier network workloads.

Four Intel i226-V 2.5GbE and Dual 10GbE SFP+ Ports

The S3 combines four Intel i226-V 2.5GbE RJ45 interfaces with two 10GbE SFP+ ports controlled by Intel 82599ES, providing both multi-gigabit copper networking and high-speed SFP+ connectivity.

4 × 2.5GbE RJ45 Four Intel i226-V interfaces for WAN, LAN, access points, servers and isolated network segments.
2 × 10GbE SFP+ Dual Intel 82599ES 10GbE SFP+ interfaces for high-bandwidth uplinks, storage and backbone connectivity.
Mixed Network Topology Combine 2.5GbE edge connectivity with 10GbE SFP+ uplinks in one firewall or routing platform.

Shared N-Series Motherboard with DDR5 and PCIe Expansion

The S3 uses the same Intel N-Series motherboard platform as the CWWK F13. The motherboard provides four onboard Intel i226-V 2.5GbE ports, one DDR5 SO-DIMM slot, NVMe and SATA storage interfaces and a PCIe expansion slot for the dual 10GbE SFP+ adapter.

  • 4 × onboard Intel i226-V 2.5GbE
  • 1 × DDR5 SO-DIMM, up to 32GB
  • 1 × M.2 NVMe storage interface
  • 1 × SATA 3.0 interface
  • PCIe x8 physical expansion slot
  • Mini-PCIe / MPE expansion interface

PCIe x8 Physical Slot with PCIe 3.0 x4 Signal

The S3 motherboard uses a physical PCIe x8 slot with a PCIe 3.0 x4 electrical connection. The slot is used for the Intel 82599ES dual 10GbE SFP+ expansion adapter.

The PCIe connector is physically x8, but the available electrical signal is PCIe 3.0 x4. It should not be interpreted as a full-bandwidth PCIe x8 electrical connection.

Intel 82599ES Dual 10GbE SFP+ Expansion Card

The S3 uses an Intel 82599ES-based PCIe network expansion card to provide two 10GbE SFP+ interfaces. These ports complement the motherboard's four Intel i226-V 2.5GbE RJ45 interfaces for higher-bandwidth network links.

CPU Heatsink and Turbo Fan Active Cooling

The S3 uses a dedicated CPU heatsink and turbo cooling fan to actively cool the Intel N-Series processor. The fan is part of the CPU thermal system rather than the chassis itself.

Because the supported N100, N150, N200 and N305 processors are low-power platforms, the standard CPU cooling system is generally sufficient for typical firewall, routing and networking workloads.
